Visiting Pembrokeshire and the Local Area

Visiting PembrokeshireThe Pembrokeshire Coast National Park is Britain’s only coastal national park which makes it special. There are many walks in the surrounding area to suit everyone from “walking the dog” to more serious hill walking.

The coastal path has something to offer everyone from long sandy beaches to spectacular cliff top views. The beaches are clean and relatively quiet – ideal for family picnics or wind surfing for the energetic.

The Pembrokeshire Coast National Park run a bus service throughout the area to assist walkers who want to be dropped off in one area and picked up later in another. We keep a supply of brochures and maps to lend to visitors who want to explore the area.

The National Park also offers a range of walks in the local area North Pembrokeshire is steeped in history from Nevern Church to Castell Henllys, an iron age fort, where there are lots of activities for children. There is also an ancient burial chamber at Pentre Ifan. St Davids, the smallest city in the U.K. has a magnificent cathedral set in peaceful surroundings and well worth a visit.

Visiting PembrokeshireThe caravan park is only a few miles away from Llys y Fran Dam where you can hire bicycles or walk around the lake. You will find people fishing around the lake. Then, when you are tired from all the activities, there is a tearoom to enjoy some refreshments.

For the more energetic Mike Mayberry offers kayaking from beginners to the more experienced. He is based a few miles from the park. Newport also has a thriving boat club where you can participate in sailing competitions or just relax with a drink in the bar. Newport also has a golf club where visitors are made welcome.

While north Pembrokeshire offers scenery and coastal activities a few miles away there are many attractions – Oakwood, Folly Farm, Manor Park, Dinosaur Park. Many families enjoy a day out and then return to the peace and tranquility of Gwaun Vale to enjoy a barbecue and watch the sun setting behind the hills. There really is something for everyone.
